FAQ
Answers to our most common questions...
HOW MUCH IS MONTHLY TUITION?
This will depend upon which team or program your child is involved in. Pricing differs between competition teams, fundamentals and tumbling instruction. Check out our pricing and schedule page for further details.
DO YOU OFFER FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES TO OFFSET COSTS?
Yes! We have several fundraisers planned throughout the competition cheer season that can cover uniform cost, choreography payments, and national events. We have several different ways that an athlete can fundraise exclusively for themselves! These fundraisers will be listed in our information packet that you will receive when you sign-up.
HOW MANY COMPETITIONS DO ATHLETES COMPETE IN?
Full season teams will compete in roughly six competitions for the season including a National event. Half year will compete in three. This year we are going exclusively JAMZ events and are so excited!
HOW OFTEN DO YOUR CHEERĀ TEAMS PRACTICE?
Our full year team practices at least twice a week beginning in August and ending in May following our end of season competition. Our half year team will practice twice a week August through December. The fundamentals team will practice once a week too and will have both a spring and winter season option.
CAN MY ATHLETE DO OTHER SPORTS?
Yes! Part of our mission in doing this recreation program is to allow athletes to still have lives outside of competitive cheerleading. Whether that may include pariticipating in gameday cheerleading, dance, or another fall sport. We do our best to work with schedules to make it possible. However, doing multiple extracurriculars does come with big responsibility, dedication and strong communication amongst the athlete and both sports.
WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DO THE COACHES HAVE?
Our staff attends a Coaches Conference each year to make sure that their knowledge is as up-to-date as possible in cheerleading safety, rules and proper training. Our coaching staff has over 10 years combined experience in coaching cheerleading and have each cheered on different teams themselves. Our coaches are required to have a USA Cheer Youth/Rec Membership completed too. This membership includes full training certifications in Athlete Concussion Awareness, Cheer Safety & Risk Management, and General Youth Coaching.
ARE YOU A COED PROGRAM?
At this time, we only haveĀ female athletes registered. However, anyone who meets the age requirements isĀ welcome to be a part ofĀ Lightning Athletics!
WILL LIGHTNING ATHLETICS BE TRADITIONAL OR PERFORMANCE RECREATION?
Lightning Athletics was a traditional non-affiliated recreation program for 2020 and 2021. However, for 2022 our Full Year teams will be exclusively Performance Teams. What this means is that there will no longer be a cheer portion to the athleteās routine.
WILL THERE BE OTHER THINGSĀ OFFERED OUTSIDE OF COMPETITIVE CHEERLEADING?
We will be bringing back our fundamentals mini team for both a spring and winter season. We will also have both group and private tumbling instruction available in the summer. Fitness classes will be ran at our facility periodically - yoga, bootcamp, Zumba and hip hop. Cheer Open Gyms will also be available. As you can tell, we have a lot of great things in store!
